Analysis of Modal Emissions From Diverse In-Use Vehicle Fleet

چکیده
Research Program. This paper describes the initial phase of a longterm project with national implications for the improvement of transportation and air quality. The overall objective of the research is to develop and verify a comprehensive modal emissions model that accurately reflects the impacts of a vehicle’s operating mode. The model is comprehensive in the sense that it will be able to predict emissions for a wide variety of light-duty vehicles (LDVs, i.e., cars and trucks) in various states of condition (e.g., properly functioning, deteriorated, malfunctioning). Other efforts and further background on modal emission modeling have been described elsewhere (1) and elsewhere in this Record by An et al. A specific modal emissions testing protocol has been developed that reflects both real-world driving and specific modal events associated with different levels of emissions. This testing protocol (described later in this paper) is being applied to more than 300 vehicles to provide the foundation for the modal emissions model. As a preliminary step, the test cycle has been applied to an initial fleet of 30 vehicles, where at least 1 vehicle falls into each of the 28 defined vehicle/technology categories. The preliminary analysis of the initial test fleet is described.

Three New Heuristic Algorithms For The Fleet Size And Mix Green Vehicle Routing Problem
In recent years, great efforts have been made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by vehicles. Petroleum products produces greenhouse gas emissions, therefore reducing the use of these products can make a major contribution to reducing pollution. The Fleet Size and Mix Vehicle Routing Problem is one of the most widely used routing branches. In this problem, there are vehicle with different capac...
متن کاملA New Mathematical Model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem by Considering a Bi-Fuel Mixed Vehicle Fleet
This paper formulates a mathematical model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem (GVRP), incorporating bi-fuel (natural gas and gasoline) pickup trucks in a mixed vehicle fleet. The objective is to minimize overall costs relating to service (earliness and tardiness), transportation (fixed, variable and fuel), and carbon emissions. To reflect a real-world situation, the study considers: (1) a co...
متن کاملThe effect of uncertainty on US transport-related GHG emissions and fuel consumption out to 2050
The future of US transport energy requirements and emissions is uncertain. Transport policy research has explored a number of scenarios to better understand the future characteristics of US light-duty vehicles. Deterministic scenario analysis is, however, unable to identify the impact of uncertainty on the future US vehicle fleet emissions and energy use. Variables determining the future fleet ...

متن کاملModelling the Impacts of Transport Policies to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Urban Freight Transport in Sydney
Freight transport in urban areas has few opportunities for modal shift away from road. What policy options might there be to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from road freight vehicles? A combined travel demand, traffic network and emissions model was established to test the impacts of the generic policy initiatives ‘best practice’ truck fleet fuel efficiency, general reductions in peak period t...
